Assignment Brief and Guidance: |
You work as a web developer for a leading creative web solutions and marketing company. As part of your role, you have been asked to design and create a website for their client.
SCENARIOTwo small businesses in Kent have decided to embark on a new enterprise. Mark Special Woods (MSW) have been supplying hardwoods to Mark Joinery (MJ) for a decade. Both companies supply to local builders and do not trade online. MSW can supply a variety of hard woods, both locally grown and imported. MJ have sophisticated CNC routers and laser cutters. Their joint company, Mark Wood Shell (MWS), is being formed to manufacture and sell wooden cases for mobile phones direct to customers. This will be an internet only business. Whereas both companies have been privately owned by families and run in a traditional manner, the new, also privately owned, MWS is in the hands of two of the new generation of the families, recent graduates, technically knowledgeable and enthusiastic about creating a vibrant product range. Their aim is to provide cool designs with customisable features for any current smartphone from Apple, Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC, Motorola and Nexus. Their unique selling point will be full customisation with next day delivery. Task 1- Design and Create P5 Create a design document for a branded, multipage website supported with fidelity wireframes and a full set of client and user requirements. P6 Use your design document with appropriate principles, standards and guidelines to create a branded, multipage website supported with realistic content. Task 2 – Justify the Design and the website creation M4 Compare and contrast the multipage website created to the design document. D2 Critically evaluate the design and development process against your design document and analyse any technical challenges P7 Create a suitable Test Plan identifying key performance area and use it to review the functionality and performance of your website. Task 3 – Evaluate M5 Evaluate the Quality Assurance (QA) process and review how it was implemented during your design and development stages D3 Critically evaluate the results of your Test Plan and include a review of the overall success of your multipage website; use this evaluation to explain any areas of success and provide justified for areas that require improvement. Note: You report should reflect on the learning outcomes and assessment criteria in order to achieve listed grades ( see table below) |
