Research Design – In assignment 1Fire Resistance of Ultra-Lightweight Foam Concrete, you have selected a research question and prepared a
Literature Review. This assessment builds on the previous assignment in that you are required to design a research protocol to gather data to investigate the question. This section describes how you will conduct your study to ensure that the evidence obtained enables us to answer the initial question as unambiguously as possible. Regardless of the type of research you plan to do, you need to indicate how you will carry out your study so others may judge its viability, its worth, etc.
To complete this task, you will need to consider the research design and select research method that you consider to be most appropriate for your purpose.

Put it all together. Your final product will contain the following elements—in this order.
1. Research Problem and Research Questions: Begin with an introductory section that describes the research problem and your specific research question(s) [You have already written a draft of the review of literature that included the research problem and question(s)]. But you will probably find that you are continuing to craft your research questions, and may need to revise your research question/s. [Limit – 200 words].

2. Research Design: You should try and describe the research design that is appropriateto answer your research question/s. First choose the appropriate approach to theory development and identified the methodological choice. Next propose a research strategy from the range of strategies described in class and then go into more details based on references that you find on the appropriate strategy. Justify the research strategy chosen and it should align with the research question and objectives of the research, as well as the type of data that is used. [Limit – 500 words].

3. Data Collection and Analysis Plan: Further describe the data collection plan for your chosen strategy above. Use the terms and justifications presented to you in the lecture. If you are using secondary data, describe the type of data you plan to access, and the variables you expect to analyse. Also comment on the reliability of the data and its source. You should include as much detail as possible about: potential sources of data, methods of data collection, sample sizes, length, participants, ethics considerations, etc. You should also explain how the data collected can be analysed in order to answer the research question/s. [Limit – 800 words].

4. References: List the references used in your research design in HARVARD format.
Ensure that they are fully and correctly cited.
