Film Analysis Paper – Film “101 Dalmatians”
Background Please write the “Film Analysis Paper” pursuant to the attached WORD DOCUMENT named “Film Analysis Proposal”. You must write a Film Analysis Paper that draws out the legal message of the film “101 Dalmatians” released in 1996 by Disney.
Keep in mind that this is an essay. As such, your paper argues for something and has many supporting arguments. Those supporting arguments must demonstrate things like how the film sends that message, how it aligns with real-world law and legal principles, etc. (these are the ways that your paper will showcase the research you have done). As a reminder, the Sheryl Hamilton article can serve as a model for how to do this.
Ideas about what the relationship between humans and animals is (or should be) in legal terms are rarely stated outright. This is frequently the case in films, which present us with stories that confirm, challenge, or develop the social rules for how humans and animals relate to each other. For example, the film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, is, on the surface, just a science fiction fantasy about an uprising of monkeys. However, as scholar Sheryl Hamilton demonstrates in her article, “‘Human no like smart ape’: Figuring the Ape as Legal Person in Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, elements in the film concerning things like protest, imprisonment, and police send a message about the nature of legal personhood and the human elements it seems to require.
