Modified Case 2.1 Meridian Water Pumps

For this assignment, you have been hired as a consultant to Meridian Water Pumps by its president, John Lopez. Mr. Lopez needs to determine the optimal production strategy for the production of their medium-sized pumps. They are considering a choice between either a level or a chase production strategy. The details of this case are given on pg. 42 of your text. Read the details of this case, then answer Questions #1, 2, and 4 as they are presented on pg. 43. You are to present the results of your work in the following format:

Case Format

Present your findings in the form of an executive memo addressed directly to Mr. Lopez. Include proper memo headings (To, From, Subject, etc.)
The memo should include an opening greeting and brief synopsis of the problem to be addressed.
The body of the memo should include, in narrative form, the results of the analysis completed. Do not answer the case questions in numbered homework format; the results should be presented within the narrative of the memo. Neat, professionally-formatted tables may be included within this narrative for the production schedules built.
Do not forget to include a calculation or estimate of financial and non-financial costs associated with each production plan.
For #4, elaborate with detailed reasons for or against each of the two production schedules provided, then provide your final recommendation (and the reasons behind it).
Conclude your memo with closing remarks, and add a closing signature line.
