For this assignment, students are expected to choose an activity in which you are involved— anything that includes a group of people who collaborate to achieve common goals and ideas.

• This can be at work, on a team, in a group, class, a place of worship, or in a volunteer capacity. A successful written submission will detail the following:

I am choosing a group topic. The group will be my family and planning.  The common goal would be how to planning vacations, birthdays, holidays.

It very hard for my family. I have a large family; 8 brothers and sisters. To add we are very close with my stepmothers side of the family which adds to the family size, so we include them as well in all activities.

The problem is my family is so last minute and last minute for me equals to bad planning. There have been several events that I took the initiative to set up. I tried to get everyone together… fail. The ones that do show up, can’t make a final decision, indecisive, complainers, and cheap. We get nothing accomplished. Meetings are a waste of time.

• Who is the leader? My stepmother seems to be the leader of the family, the matriarch. When she sends out a invite or request a meeting, the family responds and cooperates. They give what every money is requested, what ever food dish is request, they do not question the location or nothing.
• Who are the followers? Everyone else are the followers
• Describe the interactions between the followers and the leader. When we plan family events, it is mostly done by telephone or text. We communicate in this way because the large amount of family members.
• Describe the tasks you participate in. The task that I participate in is reminding the family about the event, what dishes they agreed to bring, and any other updates. I am good at emailing and text messaging large groups.
• and then identify the traits and behaviors of the leader. My stepmother is very organized, very patient. Being that her mother passed a few years ago, she feels like sometimes she needs to feel her shoes. Sometimes I feel like lets give my stepmother a break from planning, but then I do not get cooperation.

• Do they match the situation? I am not sure what to say for this.
• What kind of leader would be best for the situation? You can answer this
• Is a leader even necessary? Why or why not? Yes, we do have to have a leader or leaders as we are all over the place. Another issue we have that we have yet to resolve is starting the event on time, too many people come to the events late. As far as birthdays, I hate it when they text the same day and say they are celebrating the birthday of such and such in 5 hours.

Another issue we have is we have two sets of families. My dads side and my stepmother side.

I feel like when my dads side plans a event we do not support and cooperation from my stepmothers side of the family. I thought we were one family, but sometimes I feel we are not.
