You will conduct a reading reflection based on a hydrogeological article of your choice. The article must be from Journal of Hydrology, Hydrogeology Journal, PLOS, Nature, Water Resource Research or Hydrological Processes, and published within the last 5 years. The structure of your reading reflection will be as follows
1. Header with structured information on
name
course title and number
lecturer’s name
full reference of the article chosen
date assignment handed in
2. The main points of the article
Scientific articles often contain a lot of information. What is really the main concept that the author is trying to get across? This may, or may not, have been explicitly stated in the reading. Why did the author choose to emphasize this point? Your paragraph is not a summary of the article, but an analysis so that creates new meaning for you.
3. What is surprising?
Your response to this question should be reflective. Did you learn something that is in conflict with your previous notions of the world? Did you learn something that fascinates you in a way that you didn’t expect? How does this new knowledge connect with material in this module? You responses must also clearly explain “why.”
4. What is confusing?
This part require careful reading and reflection; it is only though the process of linking new information with our existing knowledge so that we become aware of inconsistencies, and gaps in our understanding. You responses here should be specific and you must also clearly explain why and make an attempt to resolve the confusion.
5. Strength or weakness of the article
In this part you comment on the strength and weakness of the article, and this may include the subject, the structure and/or the way key findings are presented.
