Corona-virus assignment

Coronavirus instructions!

This assignment is based on the spread of the “2019 Novel Coronavirus” that is currently progressing around the globe.

You will use either the freely available app Infection Bio War (link is to iOSstore, but is also available on Google Play) or the app Plague, inc. ($0.99) to simulate the spread of the 2019 Coronavirus.

You will have the option of choosing among other things: the type of infection (bacteria, virus, fungus, etc) the method of transmission (are you airborne or in the drinking water?), the symptoms of the disease and the epicenter of the start of the plague.

You will simulate the current Coronavirus outbreak by choosing the agent, the transmission, symptoms and geography to match the current outbreak as closely as possible, based on the information we have right now. See the class lecture notes for details and use the CDC website, or the New York Times, which has been incredibly accurate in reporting the details of the outbreak in real-time.

Feel free to make up, guess at or invent any information we don’t currently have about the virus that you need to use in the game. (For instance, we don’t currently have a vaccination, but one might become available in your simulation) – be creative and do what you’d like with the game as it progresses. Only the fundamentals of the virus will start out matching the current epidemic.

Play the game all the way through at least 2 times! Record what happened in your simulations. I’ll give you a rough outline of what I’m looking for below!
