SEM 115 – Examining Post-Racial America
Answer the following questions based on class discussions, the assigned readings, and any additional research you deem necessary to answer the questions completely. Successful papers should offer insight, explaining the various points of view presented by the authors and why these variables are important to the study of race and inequality in a post-racial America.
Each paper should be written in APA format, including in-text citations. It is imperative that all sources drawn upon for the paper be properly cited and referenced. Regardless of whether a direct quote is used, the author, year, and page number should be referenced. If there are any questions regarding APA formatting, refer to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).

Analysis Questions – Paper #1
1. Dalton suggests that most white people tend to not think of themselves in racial terms. What does he mean by this? Do you agree with his assessment? Why or why not?
2. Dyer, hooks, Dalton, and Sue are concerned with that they call “the invisibility of whiteness.” What does this mean? Explain the term and discuss how something can be invisible if it is everywhere.
3. What are the numerous variables responsible for the making of the Black Lives Matter movement? Be sure to explain and consider human/individual characteristics, group processes, historical practices, and social and political behavior.
4. Considering the various occurrences outlined in the Green Book, what are the common variables among the patterns of racial bias in the United States? Explain your answer, considering the geographic location of each state and the possible cultural, social, and political influences in these states.
