Assessing Your Follower Style Response

Review post and respond in 150 words. Why do you agree or disagree with their post? What in your professional experience supports your assertions?

After completing the interactive leadership assessment at the end of Ch. 12 in Northouse text. I was reminded of what I already knew about my being a great follower because my belief was always that to be a great leader you must be an exceptional follower.
According to the scoring interpretation, I’m categorized as an exemplary follower. Exemplary followers score high in both independent thinking and active engagement. They exhibit independent, critical thinking, separate from the group or leader. They are actively engaged, using their talents for the benefit of the organization, even when confronted with bureaucracy or other non-contributing members. Up to 35% of people are categorized as exemplary followers.
Although exemplary follower scores high in independent thinking and active engagement there are suggestion to improve which are as follows;
Focus on listening before offering suggestions. Allow others to offer suggestions first reserving your comments to support others
Practice being the group encourager – always thanking and praising the efforts of others and encouraging those experiencing difficulties.
Look for ways to improve your organization and offer suggestions to the leader. Always critically question the status quo.
Always try to be “part of the solution, not the problem” – when confronted with an issue or problem, bring it to the leader’s attention along with ways to solve the issue/problem
