Assignment Objective:
1. Review and critique the nursing research literature to support the nursing intervention/research question posed. **See my research question toward end of paper.
2. Write up using the RN/BSN APA paper template an introduction to your PICO/research question/nursing problem.
3. Complete a reference list using the 6 research articles you have found that support your PICO/nursing intervention. **This is done, please use the sources cited.
Nurses who hold baccalaureate degrees are not expected to design major research projects. However, they are expected to understand the research process. Students in this course will at the completion of the semester be able to read and critically evaluate research studies and apply research evidence to their practice.
In this course students will complete an “evidence based literature review” on a nursing problem of their choosing. This evidence based literature review assignment is broken into three parts over the course of the semester. This step wise process is designed to assist the students learning and allows for comprehensive faculty feedback as the literature review is completed. The directions below are for Part I.
Complete all 5 sections below. Write these in a formal paper format using the RN/BSN APA paper template provided here in the module:
1. On the title page develop a title and running head for your topic per APA format.
2. ****NO ABSTRACT is needed for part one.
3. On the first page of your paper put the title used on the title page.
4. Then complete an introduction by answering the following:
–Describe your chosen topic and the exact nursing problem and the clinical setting where this is a problem. (first paragraph of your introduction)
Subsequent paragraphs need to explain the following:
–the population (P)—one paragraph
–what intervention you are proposing (I)—one paragraph
–current standard of nursing care for the problem (C) –one paragraph
–what the outcome/goal would be you are proposing (O) –one paragraph
-Describe the clinical setting where this is a problem
-Also, describe any other pertinent information to inform your reader about the topic/problem (is this a problem only at your facility OR why this nursing problem is of special interest to you?)

3. Write out your PICO and Research question. You can just copy and paste from the one graded/approved by faculty from the Module 4 quiz. ****This is done****
P–Patient Population
I—Nursing Intervention you are proposing to help solve the nursing problem you have identified
C–Comparison intervention (what nursing intervention is currently being used that you want to compare to your proposed nursing intervention)
O—Outcome (what is the goal you hope to achieve if you use your proposed nursing intervention on the identified nursing problem?)
5. Complete a reference page using APA format which includes 6 articles you have found related to your proposed nursing problem. The articles you have found should show support for the nursing intervention you are proposing as a solution to your identified problem. The articles need to be from peer reviewed journals such as those found on CINAHL/PubMed. ****This is done****
