Culture and Media Reflection Paper
The media’s impact on the human condition cannot be ignored. In the absence of real experience with people from all walks of life, it is easy for us to believe what we see in media. A movie that engages the audience well in this area is the movie Crash. Watch the movie, consider the objectives of this course and write a (3 pages) reflection paper (in APA FORMAT) about how the media has influenced your personal attitudes and belief systems in addition to addressing the positive or negative consequences of the media’s influence on your worldview.
As you watch the movie Crash, pay close attention to your gut reactions.
After the movie, reflect on your gut reactions and really assess your own perceptions before writing your paper. I would recommend waiting a day or two to let the movie sink in and mull over the content.
In the paper, I don’t want you to relive the movie scene by scene. I want to know your thoughts, reactions and expectations. Ask yourself, why did I think that? Why did I react that way? How would I have responded if I were put into that situation? What would I want to be treated like? etc…
An ‘A’ paper is well thought out and well written. You will be graded on the depth of your insights about how media has shaped your view of others who are different from you. A HINT: please don’t wait till the last minute and try to BS your way through the paper.
