Length: 1-1.5 pages, 1.5 spacing, Arial 11 pt font, 1-inch margins
Submission Format: Word document (.docx) (no google docs, pdfs etc.)
Submission: All assignments should be submitted on NYU Classes under the correct assignment link before the beginning of class. Additionally, please bring a hard copy to turn in at the beginning of the class period.
Assignment: For this paper you will be writing a reflection paper based on the film, The World’s Toilet Crisis.
The paper consists of three parts:
1) a brief discussion of the points in the film and how they apply to public health (~1 paragraph). This should be specific and not just a summary of the film. Be sure to relate to class material. You should cite at least one class reading/lecture/book chapter in this paragraph.
2) a discussion and critical analysis of the public health impacts of the film using one or more main concepts or frameworks from the prior readings and class (~2-3 paragraphs) (need to use at least 1 reading from class besides the Schneider chapter readings. You can reference the book chapters but you must use an additional reading as well).
3) a brief discussion of your reaction to the film including any relevant personal experiences, lessons, or perspectives gained (~1 paragraph). You may use first person for this paragraph only.
Do not summarize the film – I watched it with you! You should use concepts/ frameworks/information presented in the lectures, readings, the film, and class discussions. You do not need to use outside sources for information. If you choose to use outside sources, you will need to cite them. If you use paraphrase, reference or quote from the class readings (required), you will need to have both in-text citations and a reference list. When you mention the film, you also need to have an in-text citation and reference. The film is available for you to watch on the Internet but to receive full credit for the assignment, you need to come to class the day the film is shown.
Submission of paper topic: Email your selected Concept/Framework and what readings you will use to Professor Blasco (email@example.com) and Maddie (firstname.lastname@example.org) by March 15th.
Remember: Put your name on the assignment (you can do this in the “header” to save space for the actual assignment)! Don’t overthink the assignment – it’s meant to be straight forward and for me to understand what you are thinking. This assignment should be completed alone, without consultation with other students. Late papers will be subject to the late policy per the syllabus.
Other Info: Do not plagiarize. All assignments will be checked with Turnitin. As a general rule of thumb, if you are unsure if you need to cite, you should err on the side of caution and cite. Please use APA or AMA citation format. The reference list does not count towards the page length requirements.
