Ancestry art
Ancestry.art Choose a region/cultural group that you are connected to/descended from and research your ancestral artistic heritage. Choose one historic artwork and one significant work by a contemporary artist. These may be human-built structures (architecture and environmental works), painting, all forms of graphic arts, sculpture, installation/performance, fine crafts such as textiles, ceramics and embroidery. Art works covered in class are not eligible.
A) Write a 300-word visual analysis and social/historic context for the historic
item. What are the materials? Designs? Purpose? Meanings?
B) Write a 300-word discussion of the contemporary artist and the artwork.
Who is the artist? What was the artist’s intent? What materials were used? Symbols and meaning?
C) Compare the two artworks. Are there any similarities? Cultural continuity?
How does culture influence both items? (200 words)
Golden Temple and Taj mahal are the two type of arts you have to do comparison on and answer these questions. You can find information about both on internet or any other source
