Paper 4: Proposal to Solve a Problem
For this assignment, you will need to identify a problem and propose a solution. Think of something that affects you in your daily life that is solvable rather than the larger issues that confront all of humanity such as the meaning of life.
Here is a list of items to get you started:
1. Think about all the activities you do on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Are there certain activities that you avoid doing or procrastinate about doing or get in a bad mood when you know you’re going to have to do? Those might be problems to be solved. Pick one that you think others might have too and possibly that you could ask them about to get other ideas for your paper.
2. Fully describe the problem. Remember, some readers may not think it’s a problem, so first you will have to convince them that it is before you can propose a solution.
3. You might organize your paper according to the three steps needed to solve the problem. Or, you might organize your paper by proposing three solutions to the problem. The idea of three is important though. It’s the magic number for sounding convincing.
Instead of three parts to this assignment, it’s really four this time.
OPTION ONE: X is a problem that can be solved by doing Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3.
