Replication study of Sparkman and Walton’s (2017) experiment 3

Needs to follow APA format:
• Cover page
• Abstract
• Paper starts on page 3 with your title again (does NOT say Introduction)
o 1st paragraph to introduce topic overall
o Summarize Sparkman and Walton (2017)
 You should discuss all of the experiments to some extent.
 We are replicating experiment 3 so you should summarize that one with the most detail
 I would also describe 1 and 2 with some detail because experiment 3 builds off of 1 and 2
 You should at least mention that experiments 4 and 5 were done and what they were on. These do not need to be full summaries but feel free to describe them in as much detail as you want. Only requirement is that you mention them and specify they exist (we shouldn’t read your intro and think that Sparkman and Walton (2017) only did 3 experiments).
 Your last paragraph should have 3 hypotheses:
• What do you expect to find between the future growth dynamic norm condition and the static norm condition?
• What do you expect to find between the no-future growth dynamic norm condition and the static norm condition?
• What do you expect to find between the future growth dynamic norm condition and the no-future growth dynamic norm condition?

o Participants
 Where did the sample come from? How many? How many vegetarians? Gender? Political affiliation?
o Materials
 Qualtrics survey, again replication of Sparkman and Walton (2017)
o Procedure
 You took the survey yourselves, along with 3 other sections of PSY305 students. You received the link and did it during class. You can also explain that the Qualtrics survey was shared by the original researchers, which enabled us to directly replicate their study but with a different sample
• Results
o T-test analysis, will follow analyses Sparkman and Walton (2017) did
• Discussion
o Summarize your results in the context of your hypotheses
o Interpret the results in connection to the Sparkman and Walton (2017) experiment
o Weaknesses of the study (can also consider in connection to Sparkman and Walton (2017) – what did we do differently that could be improved or that was a strength too)
o Future directions – both in terms of how you would improve the limitations you mentioned but also for where the research can go – what other things might we want to study as far as normative behavior goes? What questions would you want to ask?
