Q.1 – Unit 1: Understanding Ethics: (300 – 400 words). Discuss the risks and benefits of acting unethically in business? Using examples, identify the different values at stake and assess the impact on the individual, the organisation and the society.
Q.2 – Unit 2: Legal, Regulatory and Political Issues: (400 – 500 words). Why do governments introduce legislation to regulate business activities and why might legal rules be insufficient for fulfilling ethical responsibilities? Describe situations in which a person in business might have acted in a way that was legally wrong but ethically right? Use examples to illustrate your answer.
Q.3 – Unit 3: Ethics in Business: (400 – 500 words). You are a supervisor in a small business, customer service centre and one of your team is a new, single parent. It seems that his personal responsibilities are interfering with his performance and several administrative tasks have been submitted late or not at all. A colleague also informs you that he was overheard making personal calls whilst he should have been working. Considering the ethical decision-making process and the definition of business ethics, explain in detail what you would do with the team member, the influences on your own actions and the possible consequences of them.
Q.4 – Unit 4: Ethics in Organizational Decision Making: (400 – 600 words). You are the HR manager of a small, technology company producing both customized, business software and hardware. There are some concerns about ethical behaviour in the company, so the CEO has asked you to develop an ethics program for the business. Identify and discuss in terms of accountability and responsibility issues you think should be addressed not only within a code of ethics program but also issues outside the program. Explain how you would measure the degree to which the program has been successful.
