Overview:
For this assignment, you will research
and write an informative paper on a specific nonprofit organization of your choice.
In total, your final paper should be between 5-10 pages (sans title page and references). It should
use excellent written mechanics and proper APA formatting throughout. Your paper should also
integrate at least 5 scholarly sources.

Details:
This paper should consist of three distinct sections. Use correct APA headings where
appropriate.

1. Introduction: In this section, introduce and orientate the reader to the rest of your paper.
Begin with a strong and concise opening sentence to “hook” your readers’ attention. Clearly
identify the nonprofit organization that will be the focus of your paper. Outline a rationale for
why this organization deserves discussion (i.e., answer the “So what?” question), and then
preview the rest of your paper. This section should range between three to five paragraphs in
length, constituting approximately 15% of your overall paper.

2. Body: In this section, discuss your nonprofit organization in thorough detail. You might
organize your discussion chronologically, beginning with whom first established or developed
the organization. Or you might organize your discussion topically, outlining the organization’s
main tenets, central figures, defining characteristics, etc. In either case, be sure to use a variety
of direct quotations and paraphrases to support each of your claims. The best place to start
gathering information will probably be the organization’s website; then delve into academic
journals and articles through the university library. This section should constitute approximately
75% of your overall paper.

3. Conclusion: In this section, review the specific sections of your paper. Refer back to your
original rational for why this topic deserved discussion. Finish strong with a final thought, a
word of hope, etc. This section should constitute approximately 10% of your overall paper.
