A research proposal essentially contains the front end of a scholarly paper. This includes an introduction or background section, a literature review, a theory section, hypotheses or expectations, a methods section, and a conclusion (see detailed outline below). Your paper should be broken up into subheadings based on these components, and the assignments you’ve done throughout the semester should help you complete these sections. This paper must be 5-8 pages (a minimum of 5 FULL pages is required), double spaced, in 12-pt Times New Roman font, and in ASA or APA format (do not use MLA). In terms of structural requirements, your paper should also have a cover page, an abstract, and a references section. These three things do not count toward the page requirement.
