As a kid, I always enjoyed spending time reading and expanding knowledge. This passion led me to
the search for cultural and educational places until recently, where I can finde practical materials to
inspire mylife a wide range of knowledge. My focus was on world cultures, specifically Arab culture,
so during research and exploration, I heard that King Abdulaziz Center for Global Culture has been
opened which also known as iThra’, the Arabic word for ‘enrichment’ — and this promises a
continuous journey of enrichment, using science, innovation, arts and culture to inspire creativity
and a love of learning by this building and it’s facilites.while i was walking thru the welcoming plaza
tha exterior facade of the building was very impressive and unique in ,each design feature look like
it’s posed a particular challenge .This design takes the form of a complex composition of differentsized “rocks” wich is the geological nature of the Kingdom , and it may symbolize the diversity in
socity , These rocks lean on one another to illustrate solidarity, and show that the various disciplines
explored in the building all depend on one another. The design even extends to the layout of the
content housed within, placing inspiration from the past in the rocks underground, the present at
ground level, and the future soaring up into the sky. Balance and harmony is created through
interdependence.Where Each component fashioned as a unique and tailor-made entity, conforming
to and expressive of its own individual needs and requirements. . Not one component can be
removed. All are interdependent and rely upon each other,so it’s gives the visiter the expression of
teamwork thro the extirior significative componant .
inside the building there is A public library, a museum, exhibition halls and facilities, a lifelong
learning centre, a children’s learning centre and exhibition an auditorium, cafes and restaurants .
Each area housed within the Center has been specially designed to provide the space, inspiration
and practical materials to inspire a wide range of learning, in a state of the art setting. but the library
is One of the most important places that caught my attention in this building. it is marked by with
modern technologies and inspiring designs and is spread over four levels with big gallery and
skylight at the top represents the importance of literacy and education because that light from tha
sky goes insde the spirit same as education in the mind which makes the person developed in this
universe .According to Arab News, Ithra features digital exhibitions that display the library programs,
as well as books recommended by the library staff. It also has a number of interactive screens that
let visitors scan any book in the library to get further information on it. farther more You get to
exchange knowledge, experience the latest technologies and discover more than a million books,
both paper and electronic,and rare books from all around the world . So what makes Ithra Library
unique is not only its interior design but also the modern technology used within its walls.”
In fact, my visit to this great architectural edifice was one of the best places that I visited in terms of
the beauty of the external building and the harmonious and attractive interior spaces,Where the
Center encourages creativity and innovation in all its programs and offerings. Nurturing science,
technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills is key, and made even more powerful when
combined with art and culture. I believe that to make the most of scientific exploration, people need
new, daring ways of thinking. And to maximize creativity, we need to fuel the imagination and
encourage innovative problem-solving. That’s why The architect seeks to ignite people’s natural
desire to explore, discover and learn ,Through the attractive design idea.
