Assignment Description

 This assignment has to be typed up and submitted as WORD document (NO PDF), so that the instructor can type comments/feedback in the paper directly;

Assignment Requirement

 You are required to do a review on each of the following domains: 3) language; 4) social OR emotional (choose one), within one age range.

 The age ranges include the following, and choose ONE stage to do your review:
– Infants (0-1 year)
– Toddlers (1-3 years)
– Preschoolers (3-5 years)
– Middle childhood (6-8 years)

 Review of each domain should include:
(1) A brief overview of child developmental characteristics/principles/trends in this domain at the age range that you choose (1-2 pages).
(2) Developmental milestones (i.e., the developmental skills/capacities that a normally developing child should achieve) in this domain at the age range that you choose (1 page).
(3) Review one empirical research (published in peer-reviewed academic journals)
that studied the domain. It does not matter what topics covered, as long as it is about this area of child development. Briefly summarize the study focus, sample, method, and the findings (1 page).

 Below are some key aspects of development to be covered in each domain’s review:

1. Language Development: receptive vs. expressive language, speech, vocabulary, and etc.

2. Social OR Emotional Development: self-regulation, prosocial behaviors, temperament, attachment, and etc.

 Below are some reference links of developmental milestones for different domains at different ages. You can also search on your own. You only need to include the milestones for the age range that you choose.

 Each paper (physical and cognitive as one paper; the other two domains as one paper) should not be less than 4 pages (double spaced, 12-point font, and 1-inch margins all around).
