For your third and final project, you will create an infographic design. From Week 6 and on, you will be dedicating most of your time on this project. There is a lot of detail and graphic strategy involved with infographics.
At the end of the project, you will have a fully created infographic that will visually explain a difficult and elaborate process. The purpose of an infographic is to allow viewers to easily understand the content through visual explanations. Follow these steps on a weekly basis.
Week 6
Research subject matter and content. Make sure that you have this dialed in immediately. You should not spend too much time gathering information. Try to research and find statistics that are already existant. Do not try to create your own data of the subject matter. For instance, here are a few options:
– Lakers win percentage and scenarios would be good if you have access to sports statistics.
– Obesity rates in America based on states.
– Percentage of use of mobile browsers vs desktop browser from 1995 to 2014.
Once you have your statistics and content, develop your strategy by sketching it out with pen and paper. Share both your content and sketches on this discussion forum so that we can collaborate together. Start to look at other infographics to get ideas.
Week 7
Take your research and sketches and start to design elements that will support your charts/graphs/illustrations. Create a 1-page sheet of just your graphical elements. This will act as your style guide. Make sure that your elements are consistent. If you use rounded corners, make sure all your elements have rounded corners and don’t mix them with straight corners. If you use a 1-pt stroke around graphics, keep it consistent throughout other elements also.
Once you have your element style guide, build out your infographic layout. Build the infographic poster at 36″ x 48″. Make sure that your graphics don’t overwhelm the viewer, but rather help explain a complicated idea in a very simple way. This doesn’t have to be the finished product. Just a start that you will present.
Upload both your element style guide and initial poster design to this discussion board.
(Week 8
Based on classmates’ responses, continue to revise your infographic poster. )

※This is a 3 week long project but we’re currently on Week 7 which means I’m two weeks behind so please complete both the initial sketches and the design part.
