Health Policy Sicko Documentary
Watch the movie “Sicko” by Director, Michael Moore (2007). Since Moore made the film in 2007, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President Obama and some of the policies presented in the movie have changed. Some believe these changes will get us closer to having universal health care. For your assignment, write an essay/critique of the film. In your essay, be sure to include:
• 2-3 examples of what things presented in the movie were changed by the ACA and if the movie changed your mind or reinforce your beliefs about the ACA.
• Your opinion on whether you believe that Moore made a strong case for universal healthcare in the United States or was he too over-the-top using his “shock-u-mentary” style.
• Describe the part of the movie that affected you the most and explain why it made you reach your conclusion regarding Moore’s style of film making.
Write one coherent essay to respond to the questions posed (not bulleted or responding to the questions one at a time). 11 or 12 Point font. Have 1-inch margins all around (top, bottom, left and right.) Cite all references, including those related to the movie, using APA style.
