Interview: You are to conduct an interview with someone very close to you—a family member, long-time friend, significant other. In this assignment, you may learn there is more to a person than meets the eye. Also, this assignment will give you an opportunity to experience a data gathering technique used in sociology for conducting research. Attached, at the bottom of the page, are the 10 questions. Students will choose 5 of these interview questions to use to interview their person of choice.
Instructions for the interview. You are to:
Tell me who the person is, relationship to you
To include the questions you choose
To state the anticipated answer to the question—what you think their answer will be
To state the actual answer to the question. Please do not sensor their answers. They must expand on their answers–meaning just a yes/no answer is not sufficient. They must explain the yes/no answer
To include a conclusion about the experience of the interview
To upload it as a file
Below is an example of what I am looking for in this assignment(totally fictional).
The person I have chosen to interview is my friend Agatha. Agatha and I grew up together and I think I know her better than most people in my life.
Do you think homeless people are responsible for their situation because they are lazy and they don’t want to work?
Anticipated Answer: I think Agatha will say there are many reasons for the homeless. We have discussed social social issues many times over the years.
Actual Answer: Well, I really believe our social system in the US has failed many, including the homeless. There are many reasons for homelessness including mental illness…..
2. Should states offer mail in ballots for all elections?
Anticipated Answer: Agatha certainly believes all states should have mail in ballots. I know she is in favor of all people having access to any voting options.
Actual Answer: I am torn on this issue. I think everyone who can vote should have voting options, but I am worried some people might cheat with mail in ballots…..
Conclusion: Overall, I found Agatha’s responses to be as I had anticipated. I, was, however surprised by her response to question 2…..
