Discussion 1: Coding Scholar of Change Video #1
In Weeks 1–4, you observed and created field notes for each of the Walden Scholars of Change videos. Now that you have completed your observations, next you will select one (Benjamin Issac) of the Scholars of Change videos to begin the coding process of not only your field notes but also the transcript (ATTACHED) of the video you downloaded.

Using the Video Field Notes Guide (Attached to order no#), you will practice (1) record-keeping notes, (2) describing what you viewed, (3) interpreting what you viewed, and (4) reflecting on what the video meant to you.
To prepare for this Discussion:
Review the chapters in the Saldaña text found in this week’s Learning Resources.
Review the Introduction to Coding and From Content to Coding media programs in the Learning Resources.
Refer back to your observational field notes from the Scholars of Change Videos from Weeks 1–4.
Choose one of the four Scholars of Change (BENJAMIN ISSAC) videos and refer to your field notes from your observation.
Access the transcript you downloaded for the media program of the Scholars of Change video you selected for this Discussion.
Begin to code the transcript and the observational field notes of the Scholar of Change Video you chose. (Note: You will only need one or two codes for this Discussion, although more are acceptable.)
Post a brief description (2 pages) of the video you chose. Next, include an example of one or two codes and provide quotes from your notes or transcript to support your example. Finally, explain your reasoning for this coding.
Be sure to support your main post and response post with reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA style.
Respond to one of your colleagues’ posts (1 PAGE) and explain how your colleague’s codes are similar to or different from yours reflective.

Discussion 2: What Would You Like to Explore?
Is there a topic or idea that has been on your mind that you are thinking about for your dissertation or doctoral study? Is there a problem in your work or social sphere that you feel compelled to understand and act upon? Have you read a story or viewed a documentary and thought “I could do something like that”?
For this Discussion, you will explore topics in your discipline (CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY) of interest to you that you want to research using a qualitative approach.
To prepare for this Discussion:
Review the Learning Resources related to qualitative research. Consider a topic in your discipline that is of interest to you. This could come from a prior course or something from your work or personal setting for which you have a passion.
Based on your initial understanding of qualitative research, post a description of the topic you chose in terms of how it could be conceptualized as a qualitative study. Include: (2 PAGES)
1) What is the phenomenon of interest?
2) What experiences or contextual issues might influence how this phenomenon
could be studied?
3) In what setting(s) could a topic like this be explored?
4) What connection do you have to this topic, and why do you think it is important to
explore this as a qualitative study?
5) What possibilities could the results of this research have for social change?
6) Be sure to support your main post and response post with reference to the week’s
Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA style.
Respond to one of your colleagues’ posts (1 PAGE) and provide additional insight as to what other opportunities your colleague might want to explore further in their research.
