Descriptive writing
your job is to rewrite that description from the perspective of the object itself. That is, the object will become the subject, the thinking, feeling, sensing subject of your writing. How would that object describe itself? How would that object narrate its own existence? What does it do during the day, and how might it describe its abilities differently than you, the person who uses/sees/senses it? To that end, you will need to compose the entire essay in first-person (“I”). I also encourage you to avoid the phrase “my owner” to the best of your ability, especially if the object is something that you use on a daily basis; perhaps the object doesn’t think of you as an “owner” but rather a partner or even just a pair of warm or clammy hands.
Your descriptive essay MUST INCLUDE 5 EXAMPLES OF FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE. Of those 5, at least 2 must be metaphors, 2 must be similes, and 1 may be hyperbole, alliteration, or onomatopoeia. For these examples (and you will likely have more than 5 anyway, so choose the 5 that you think best exemplify the use of figurative language in your writing), please HIGHLIGHT THESE EXAMPLES and, at the end of the sentence, put in parenthesis the name of the type of figurative language: The boy was a dolphin when he swam (metaphor).
