Please compose a 4-6 sentence description of Vincent Van Gogh’s painting, “The Starry Night” (below). In your description, you must use at least 3 different examples of figurative language described in the video lesson. At the end of each sentence in which you have used figurative language, please put the ‘type’ of figurative language used in parentheses.
Example: (I’m describing a different painting so I don’t steal any of your ideas!)
Edvard Munsch’s painting “The Scream” shows a man standing on a bridge who is gripping his face in absolute terror, frozen in the act of screaming. The man is bald and his body wavy like the amorphous form of a ghost (simile). The couple strolling on the bridge behind him would appear innocent in another painting; to the screaming man, however, they are lions stalking their prey (metaphor). The bitter blue and black waters beneath the bridge reach towards an ominous orange sky (alliteration). Munsch truly captures through the haunting colors and uncertain shapes in this painting the mental anguish social anxiety can cause.
