INSTRUCTIONS
Use the following scoring guide, along with the project information, for evaluating each learner’s work.
OVERALL COMMENTS
Hi Shontell,
I appreciate all of your efforts! I think you are misunderstanding the instructions. The instructions ask you to find one individual of a different culture and have them complete the questionnaire. You will also complete the questionnaire. Then you will compare your similarities and differences with this one person. Here are the instructions below. This is the core of the assessment and very different from reflecting on people you know based on the design of the questionnaire. You did a good job of exploring why differences might exist. The bolded areas are what is missing.
Once you do this, you should be good to go. Let me know if you have any questions!
Christina
Complete the My Social Identity Questionnaire and ask a person from a different cultural background to take the questionnaire.
After considering the responses carefully, write a short analysis (2–3 pages of content plus title, abstract, and reference pages) organized as follows:
Title page.
Abstract.
Introduction.
Description of how your responses to the social identity questionnaire were similar and different.
Possible explanations for these similarities and differences.
Application of concepts from the course readings and/or other scholarly material to further analyze both of your responses.
Reflections about what you need to learn, think about, and/or do differently to increase your cultural competence.
Summary and Conclusion.
References.
Previous Feedback:
The goal of this assessment was to evaluate two individuals with different cultural backgrounds. This is an important step to understanding your own cultural awareness while building cultural competence. Learners need to go beyond identifying similarities and differences. Learners should analyze these differences and support them with scholarly work. The analysis helps learners gain understanding challenging areas and ways to improve.
You did a wonderful assessing your own social identity, but missed the other component to the assessment. Your safe assign percentage was 13%, which reflects the use of citations and references. PERFECT! See the scoring guide for specific feedback for each criterion. You are welcome to revise if you wish to attempt to earn more points. If so, PLEASE HIGHLIGHT CHANGES IN SUBSEQUENT ATTEMPTS.
On each successive attempt PLEASE HIGHLIGHT your changes. This helps me streamline my grading process, which means I get it back to you quicker. When you do not highlight the changes, I open each of your previous attempts and compare them across the board to identify improvements. This doubles (sometimes triples) the amount of time I spend on your assessment. That means it takes me longer to grade it, which means it takes you longer to get it back. That in turn means it takes you longer to complete the course. I don’t mind the extra work, but in my experience most people take flex path so they can complete their degree quickly. Make sense?
All my best,
