1. Describe the person and relationship you will write about in this paper. Why did you choose this relationship? Relationships are the foundation of life on which life’s waves shapes and change its path. I was strengthened by the intimate presence of an exceptional friend who had affected me more in my professional life than any other friendship. I choose this relationship because the assessment, analysis, and review of my relationship, which is the basis of my life, are valuable in the light of the new communication and interaction theories that have emerged in this course.

2.What is a conflict moment that has caused tension in the relationship? Describe how the story of the conflict: how the conflict started, how each of you communicated (or failed to communicate) about it, and how it ended.
Since no physical contact or interaction, another very critical idea appeared to become an inevitable part of the relationship, the relationship deteriorated. Communication was the core of our friendship, communicating through words, clear replies, and clear communications. For example, in all conversations as I moved up and changed career path , I started getting less close to my friend before I decided, by long-distance phone calls, to move to a position where I can only talk and see her not so often.

3.Describe the ethical dilemma found in the conflict moment. (See Part 2 in Content Template for definition and examples of an ethical dilemma.) I would say that that our ethical dilemma choices between our path and involves judgments on actions.

4.What do you hope to learn about your relationship from writing this paper?
In writing this paper, I am hoping to understand some concepts and theories of relationships.

5.Brainstorm two Ethical Implications of Communication that relate to the ethical dilemma in the conflict moment. Provide an example of each.
My background and personality are developed in my personal experience, defining my future and my character’s growth. Communication is the gateway to every contact, and personal connections demonstrate how powerful communication instruments have changed the bond. My friendship is an excellent example of transparent and secure contact, overcoming all regional, continental, and cultural boundaries.

6.Brainstorm four concepts or theories from Chapters 5-8 you can apply to the ethical dilemma in the conflict moment. Provide two examples from the conflict moment for each concept.

In my friendship with my friend, I found that the relational experiences played a significant part. Our partnership has been based on the three basic principles: the sense, vocabulary, and reasoning. The concept leads to a greater connection between oneself and the other. In the context of the abstract relation to oneself and incorporation into the objects, the vocabulary, and the reasoning mechanism, social restrictions are ignored.

7.Brainstorm four concepts or theories from Chapters 5-8 that would improve the way the conflict was handled. Explain why each concept would have helped ease the tension.
Communication theories have helped me find the correct path. The attachment theory allowed me to grasp the complex essence of my relationship by addressing sociological, social, and personal standards academically. Function analysis lets me describe the interaction, illustrate it, or forecast it. Another theory of social exchange allowed me to know concrete theoretical examples. The philosophy of standpoints allowed me explicitly and thoroughly to apply the principle.
The last part here is the directions. I must follow to pass the class .

Interpersonal Communication Paper

Empowering ourselves through understanding our interpersonal communication.

DESCRIPTION:

Select a current or past relationship that is experiencing or has experienced conflict. The relationship can be a romantic relationship, a family relationship, a friendship, a relationship with a co-worker, a mentoring relationship, or any relationship that qualifies as an interpersonal relationship. Using civil and ethical communication implications from the Survival Guide and concepts from the textbook, you will analyze the conflict experienced in the relationship, manage it, and appraise how you did.

RATIONALE:

Examining the effectiveness of our communication in a close relationship through the application of relevant communication concepts empowers us. We are able to identify and name our specific interpersonal communication behavior. In the naming of our behavior, we create the possibility of positive, personal change through the thoughtful transformation of our interpersonal communication behavior.

REQUIREMENTS: (must be met in order to be eligible to pass the assignment)

•Describe how this conflict moment impacted communication in the relationship.

•Describe how the conflict was resolved or why it is ongoing.

Heading: Part 2: Theoretical Grounding (~ ½ page)
•Label this the “Theoretical Grounding” section. The purpose of this section is to educate the readers on the communication terminology you will be using to analyze your case.

2A: Ethical Communication Implications

•Define the implication and provide an in-text citation in APA format from the Survival Guide.

•Provide an example (separate from your case relationship) that shows the reader what the implication looks like in action.

2B: Applicable Communication Concepts
•Choose two relevant and meaningful communication concepts from chapters 5-8 in the textbook that you feel contributed to the conflict in your relationship.

•Identify each concept.

•Define each concept and provide an in-text citation from the textbook.

Heading: Part 3: Case Analysis (~1 ½ – 2 pages) [What happened in the relationship?]
•Label this the “Analysis” section. The purpose of this section is to analyze the conflict you experienced and how it impacted your relationship. Focus on what did happen rather than what should have happened in this section.

3A: Ethical Communication Implication
•Describe the ethical dilemma in the conflict. An ethical dilemma can be defined as a choice between two options, both of which will bring about a negative result based on your personal values and society’s expectations.

•Example 1: A teenager, who is grounded, is home alone. His friends stop by and want him to go to dinner with them. He knows his parents will be gone for two more hours. His friends remind him that his punishment is unfair, but he knows his parents will be very upset if he goes.

•Example 2: You work in an upscale retail store where you receive a good discount on the clothes in the store. Your cousin comes to visit the store and selects an outfit for a job interview. She asks you to give her your discount. Your store has a strict policy regarding sharing your discount with anyone. You could have to pay the store back double the amount of the discount, or worse, you could be fired. You know your cousin really needs this job and the clothes would really help. What do you do?

•Identify the two negative response options YOU struggled with in the conflict moment.

•Explain what makes the example an ethical dilemma using the ethical implication you identified in 2A.

•Use a relevant, descriptive example from your case to interpret the ethical communication in your conflict moment. Tie the implication in explicitly, don’t assume the examples you provide “speak for themselves” or that the meaning of the interactions is obvious. You must explain it.

3B: Applicable Communication Concepts
•Describe how the two communication concepts you identified in 2B manifested themselves in the conflict moment.

•Descriptive example: What does each concept “look like” in the conflict moment?

•Descriptive example: How does each concept contribute to the conflict?

•Use relevant, descriptive examples to make sense of the communication in your conflict moment. Tie the concepts in explicitly, don’t assume the examples you provide “speak for themselves” or that the meaning of the interactions is obvious. You must explain it.

•Label this the “Conflict Management: Recommendations” section. The purpose of this section is to reflect on what concepts could have been applied to improve: 1) the outcome of the conflict, 2) the way each person communicated during the conflict, or 3) avoid the conflict altogether.

4A: Recommendations for me
•Identify one NEW communication concept from your textbook YOU could use to manage the conflict moment.

•Define the concept and provide an in-text citation in APA format from the textbook for the concept that you select

•Describe how you could use the concept in the conflict moment.

•Explain why the concept might work to positively manage the conflict and improve the relationship.

Heading: Part 5: Assignment Reflection (~1-2 paragraphs)

•Identify, define, and provide an in-text citation in APA format of a relevant principle from the Foundational Communication Principles that illustrates how analyzing this conflict moment has influenced your perception of the role of communication in interpersonal relationships and conflict management.
