Should the U.S. pass the federal Dream Act? – CONS

This debate will allow you to explore an issue in education by arguing for or against it. You will utilize your growing critical thinking skills to formulate arguments in order to convince the audience that your side is the correct side. You will also critique your opponents’ arguments directly by identifying biases, areas where their arguments fall short, and providing information and facts that back up your claims. Must include an additional page with works cited. These 3 parts are included in the debate but I only need you to focus on #2 (REBUTTAL and SECONDARY ARGUMENTS) : #1- Opening arguments/statement #2 – Rebuttal and secondary arguments #3 Closing arguments/statement (and 2nd rebuttal if needed). Again, I was assigned to be against the DREAM act so the CONS should be the focus of the paper with the pros being brought up for the rebuttal. The arguments that are for the Dream Act that will be introduced in the debate and you should use for the rebuttal are 1. Boosts the U.S. Economy 2. Expands military enrollment 3. increase in productivity and college graduates. Again, I would prefer you use one of these 3 arguments for the rebuttal as they will be brought up during the debate. Secondary Arguments against the Dream Act you could include are 1. Economic Burden on the government ($12,570 aid per student every year)( 7) 2. increase in illegal immigration 3. used for Political influence (In support or against the Dream act to gain political influence that supports the agenda of politicians or others in power.) All in all, the paper should include 1 rebuttal with 2 secondary arguments, if you could fit a 3rd that would be fine too. Also, no need for introduction or thesis as this is already the body paragraphs so just dive right in to the rebuttal. I provided a few sources, I would prefer you mostly use these sources but I understand if you need to use other sources. Just keep it to no more than 2 if you need sources other than the ones I provided. Lastly, if you have other and better ideas for secondary arguments go ahead and use them but just let me know.
