Teachers Posting as Followed:
For this paper, you are going to read and evaluate a non-fiction book pertaining to the study of Sociology: After reading your book thoroughly, write your review based on the following questions:
Provide the title of the book, the date of publication, and the number of pages.
Begin with an overall synopsis of the book and then summarize the contents of the book with a summary of each chapter.
Give some background information on the author. Is this author a psychologist? A sociologist? A social worker? A therapist? This information will either be found on the book cover or can be looked up on the internet (don’t copy and paste this, use your own words.)
What are you own feelings about the information contained in the book? Was it useful to you? Factual? Common-sensical? Achievable? In other words, what do you think about the information the author presented? Could readers easily implement the ideas contained in the book or benefit from the theories and information presented? Why or why not?
Discuss any faulty reasoning or bias you found in the book…was there anything you felt was ‘wrong’?
What type of audience would benefit the most from reading this book? Students? Teachers? Married Couples? Singles? Mental health professionals? Anyone?
List and discuss/define any new concepts, phrases, vocabulary, etc. that you learned from this book.
Finally…discuss whether or not you would recommend this book to others…overall, do you give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down? Why?
Your book review should be at least 8 pages in length, and the paper should be double spaced with 12 pt. font; pay particular attention to grammar and spelling. Be sure to include a title page that includes the title of the book and the author’s name, as well as your own name and date. (This page won’t count as 1 of the 8). It would be beneficial for you to have your paper proofread!
Reviews are due on November 16th by midnight!
Late reviews will not be accepted for any reason!
