Wage Gap in the US
Argumentation is the step by step process of presenting a debatable position or conclusion. In your argumentative essay, you are to take a stand, supported by evidence and convince the reader to see things the same way. Argumentation is an appeal to reason — connecting of statements which lead to a conclusion.
The structure:
One — take a position
Two — make your points
Three — supply the evidence in a logical chain
Four — refute the opposing arguments (concede where appropriate)
Five — consider the audience’s views
Six – conclude, leaving the reader fully understanding your position and possibly having changed their mind about the issue at hand.
Evidence: facts and opinions that support your opinion. Facts are statements that people agree are true and can be verified independently. Opinions are someone’s interpretations of facts. Opinions turn on credibility of the person presenting the opinion. Evidence must be relevant and sufficient to support your paper.
An argumentative paper must have an appropriate tone. Do not be hostile.
You will find five sources, three of which may come from your textbook. You will use all of them in your draft and at least 4 of them in the final paper.
The draft will be at least 5 full pages and will include all proper citation as well as a works cited page. The works cited page never counts toward the page count.
