Dissing
Purpose:
In lieu of a Final Exam, students will complete a project about one of the topics below and give a PowerPoint presentation on campus during the Final Exam Week. The purpose of this assignment is to review course content, provide practical application of SimNet lessons, and reinforce professional presentation skills.
Requirements:
· Complete ALL parts of the Final Project:
o Active Listening Assignment (completed through Blackboard)
o Outline & APA Citation (submitted through Blackboard)
o Presentation with PowerPoint slides (virtually through Blackboard Collaborate)

o Watch the assigned video and answer the questions about video content
· Outline & APA Citation
o Turn in through submission folder in the Final Project folder on Blackboard
o Review how to write an outline in Chapter 3 of POWER Learning and Your Life
o Use the APA Citation Basics link in Final Project folder on Blackboard to review APA citation format
o Create a one-page outline of your presentation (with in-text APA formatted citation) and a separate References page also in APA format

· Presentation with PowerPoint
o Students must research one of the topics below and create a PowerPoint presentation based upon their findings. After students choose their topic, they are required to find at least two academic sources (scholarly journal articles and books) to learn more about the topic; the course textbook can be one of these sources. Students should use the college Library or Galileo to find these resources; Wikipedia is not an appropriate source for this assignment. ALL RESOURCES USED SHOULD BE CITED IN APA FORMAT.
o Students must present virtually through Blackboard Collaborate for 3 minutes
§ Students should practice their presentations to ensure they are only presenting for 3 minutes (students will be penalized for not meeting the 3 minute requirement).
o Provide an accurate description of the chosen topic and fully answer all parts of the prompt.
o Create an engaging, highly-creative (using color, animation, etc.), and well-organized PowerPoint presentation of at least seven slides to use in your presentation. NOTE: Students are required to use the Microsoft PowerPoint program to create their slides; presentations created using other programs (Google Slides, etc.) will NOT be accepted. PowerPoints will be submitted electronically to instructors and displayed through a screen sharing tool during virtual presentations. PowerPoint files should be saved and submitted as a .ppt, .pptx, or .pdf file.
o Demonstrate a variety of public speaking skills (including, but not limited to eye contact, engaging delivery, clarity of speech, word choice, etc.). Extra credit will be given for students who dress professionally for their presentation.
o DO NOT PLAGIARIZE. Plagiarism will result in a zero for this assignment.
Topics (Students must choose ONE of the following topics for their presentation):
1) Choose one type of cyber bullying from the list below to research and give the following information:
· Name and definition of the chosen type
· Who are the most common perpetrators and victims of the chosen type?
· Two real-world examples of the chosen type
· How this type of cyber bullying, and social media use in general, could impact your academic and professional life
· Types of Cyber Bullying:
§ Dissing: Dissing is the act of sending or posting cruel information about a person online, to damage their reputation or friendships with others. It can also include posting material online such as photos, screenshots or videos. The cyberbully wants to put a person down, so draws attention to what they are saying about them to make other people think they’re not cool. The cyberbully is usually someone a person knows. This can make it really upsetting.
