Visual Analysis
Your introduction should include
1.Name the text you’re analyzing in the introduction: “The Ford F150 advertisement,” “Auburn University’s website,” “The University Writing Center’s brochure.”
2.Include a brief description of the text. You will include more description in your body paragraphs, but a little here will help set up your analysis.
3.Characterize briefly the text’s rhetorical situation (its audience, purpose, and context). Again, you will include more of this in body paragraphs, but a little bit here will set up the rest of your paper.
4.End with thesis statement
Point = visual element you are looking at for the paragraph and its purpose
Illustration=description of the image (obviously, no direct quotes
)Explanation=analysis– why did the author choose to use that visual element, how is it supposed to effect the audience?
The conclusion paragraph should include
A re-emphasis of your main point (think of re-wording of your thesis statement)A critique of them effectiveness and why this analysis matters(the big so what).
