3-Minute Forum Term Project
Throughout the semester we have worked with small artifacts that provide important perspectives on lived experiences in the past. Student teams had an opportunity to interpret potential meanings of these materials within the theoretical frameworks presented in class. As you work on this assignment, draw from text you have drafted for Artifact Analysis parts 1, 2, and 3.
Teams of students will present a polished, practiced narrative that tells a story through the artifact(s) regarding race, gender, ethnicity, or labor dynamics in the past. Presentations will be three minutes, and represent a culminating project for the class. (20 points for film submission; 5 points for submission of the text read for this film, as the final exam for the class). The film could include images alongside limited text, but should clearly reference course readings and material.
Objective: The culminating experience in this course is to complete an historical archaeological analysis in a small team and report the findings to the class in a 3-minute film. While groups will be graded on overall creativity and teamwork, each student will be responsible for representing their individual contribution to the team’s topic.
Film production:
You may use multiple methods to record your film, but I recommend trying to use a video file created in Canvas Studio or a Zoom call among team members with screen sharing of a powerpoint.
