In a well composed paper at least 3-5 pages long, please write literary essay that compares Ish’s journey earth abides to the four steps of a hero’s journey (1.the call, 2.departure or separation, 3.initiation and the gift, and 4.the return).(To do this paper justice, this paper will need to be closer to 5 pages than 3.) Be sure to find quotes or paraphrases that back up your claims and be sure to cite them properly. for full credit, please follow the template I give after these instructions. Please find at least one outside source that discusses the hero’s journey. For example, you could research Joseph Campbell. For optional extra credit, you may also create a properly formed works cited page.

6. analyze ISH in terms of the last step. does Ish return? does society accept his gift? use 1-2 quotes or paraphrases to back up your claims and be sure to cite them properly.
7. conclusion:
revisit your thesis statement and look to the future. what did you learn about the hero’s journey? does it still have relevance in the 21st century?
