Clinical Research Paper (Depression)
Submit a research paper which has at least 5 journal articles and is related to a case study based on your clinical experience. The paper must be 10 pages or more and you can count the Title page and the Reference page included in the overall page count. For help with APA citations and writing standards refer to OWL from Purdue University web site. The paper is based on a problem that a client is experiencing and the evidence-based treatments that are supported by the research.
This research paper is a review of the literature concerning an issue related to your practicum placement (poverty, depression, PTSD, drug addiction, etc). It will include the following sections: Pages are flexible. This is just an example of what it may look like when complete.
Page Two: Introduction: Tell us what you are going to tell us. State your thesis statement and brief overview of literature / case.
Page Three- Six: Literature Review: Examine the research on your topic. Focus on evidence based treatments if possible. Articles should be peer-reviewed articles published within the last five years. For example, treatment for depression could include psychotherapy, pharmacology, electroconvulsive therapy, etc. Whatever your research question / thesis statement is will be explored in this section.
Page Seven-Eight: Practicum Experience: Link your literature review findings to your current placement and client / case. You may want to include client history, diagnosis, goals, or interventions used at the agency.
Page Nine: Summary: Tell us what you told us. Restate your thesis statement, what the literature says, how it related to your client / case.
