We all have areas in our lives where we are reluctant to ask for what we need or want. For Amanda Palmer, she struggled with asking her husband for money even though she finds it easy to ask her fans for money. What are areas in your life where you are reluctant to ask for what you need or want? Consider hard asks within a relationship, family, work, or community, those that often trigger a physical reaction such as a rush of anxiety in your body. These will be asks worth exploring in the below essay assignment:
Write an expository essay that identifies, discusses, and analyzes a hard ask for you, whether that ask was in the past or is in the present. Towards the end of your essay, get curious and explore what might make it easier to move ahead with your ask, or if your ask was in the past, reflect on what you came to learn from your experience.
