–Read Chapter 11 “Nonfiction: Biography and Informational Books” from Essentials of Children’s Literature 9th edition..
–Go to a library or a good book store. Read a biography or informational book written for children or young adults.
–Write a 1500 word minimum paper summarizing your analysis/evaluation.
–Research the work you’ve chosen (via the internet, library, online databases, etc.) and provide insights you’ve gleaned from that research. Try starting with this idea: “This selection represents the best of what non-fiction can offer the young reader because…” The important thing here is to evaluate the selection based on what makes it excellent for children.
Important: Make sure you use MLA documentation and provide a works cited. This is the assignment that provides SUNY with data about the effectiveness of the course. Please make this your best paper, utilizing everything you have learned this semester to tell your reader why the selection you chose is excellent reading for children.

–utilize MLA-style in-text citations from your textbooks and any other sources you have used.
–include an MLA-style work cited for your textbook, non-fiction book and any other sources you have used.
–have a title.
–utilize first person point of view/expressive “I” and/or third person (he, she, it).
–not use second person point of view “you.”
–utilize college level mechanics.
–have no misspellings.
