Britain History
Over the semester we have examined the history of Britain from the 16th century through the mid/late 20th century in 1840-1970. The first part of the course took us from the rise of the Tudors through the end of the Napoleonic era. Post-midterm we looked at the evolution and development of Britain–at home and in the world–from Victoria through the 1960s. Compared to the earlier period, this later time–taking in perhaps 150 years–has been an era of dramatic and almost continuous change in so many aspects of life. In an essay of between 3 and 4 pages (750-1000 words, though you may write more), discuss what some of those changes were, how they altered British life over time, and what their significance was. Remember that history is also a story created and lived by people, so they should not be absent from what you write.
