This will be in two parts: Report and Proposal
You will pick either a public policy or business/workplace issue. There are a lot of options and I am not limiting you; this can be something you are passionate about, have knowledge of or interests you. I am not providing examples because I do not want to influence your choices. If you need assistance with topic ideas I am available to chat during virtual hours, e-mail me to set a time.
Use Library Resources, there is link through BB for your convenience, and web searches to help you with completion; you are required to include a Work Cited page with a minimum of 4-6 reliable and reputable sources. This does not mean you will direct quote from these sources but the data and background information you are using needs to be accurate and correct so I know it needs to come from somewhere reliable. Additionally, for your proposal, how you what to address will be yours, it still needs to be based on fact and reality…this will require the help of resources that need to be sourced.

Part I: Report
In this section, you are going to report on the issue.
You will provide history/background of the issue, providing facts, figures and opinions on topic.
I want you to present all sides of the issue and how experts think it can be fixed.
For this section your goal is to inform and excite your audience about this issue
Part II: Proposal
In this section you will develop a proposal that fixes the problem the way you think it should be done.
Your proposal will:
– State problem
– Explain why this is best option and how change will be effective
– Give a schedule and steps on how to implement
– Explain when/how change will be seen
The report section will be more informative where as the proposal section will be more persuasive. With that said, each section has persuasive and informational aspects.
For this project you need to determine who your audience is – your audience will be different if its a public policy or business issue. Also within these two distinctions there multiple choices, which you want to narrow down
REMEMBER THIS IS BUSINESS WRITING NOT ACADEMIC WRITING – remember visual appeal and document persuasiveness. This means section with headings; think image/graph/chart first; bullet/list paragraph second; full word paragraph as last resort. Be sure to include a cover page and you might want to include table of contents.

I know what you are all are thinking; how long should it be. If you do not know by now, I will never give page/word length requirements. With that said, you want your document to be longer then 8 pages and shorter then 15.
