Gladwell discussed how a dying shoe company, producers of Hush Puppy Shoes, became popular once again. The CEOs of the company could not explain what had changed. Two adolescent kids decided to wear shoes because no one else would wear them. This action resulted in a new trend to occur that influenced the fashionhouses of New York and around the world, revitalized a dying company, and increased the socioeconomic standing for the company owners and founders. Gladwell discusses how The Tipping Point is a biography idea that helps us to understand the ebb and flow of trends (i.e. crime waves, books becoming bestsellers, the rise of teenage smoking or vaping, etc.) that mark our everyday lives. You could think of these trends as being epidemic in manner. These changes in our society tend to happen in a hurry instead of steadily and slowly. Gladwell discusses how seemingly insignificant actions make a huge impact on the success and failure of consumables, everyday items we purchase, as well as major purchases that individuals encounter in their life.
