“This assignment is in lieu of Article Response assignment in the syllabus. You are required to listen carefully to the National Public Radio (NPR) broadcast entitled “Agencies, Contractors Suspend Diversity Training to Avoid Violating Trump Order”, and broadly discuss what you have learned from what you have heard, and specify what important lessons and insights stood out for you from the presentation. A full grasp of the presentation can be obtained from both the audio broadcast and the accompanying article. In addition to a general discussion of what you have learned, you should identify the themes in Trump’s Order related to racial identity, efforts for racial integration in America including past efforts on affirmative action and promotion of racial harmony.
You are also required to consider and reflect on the following questions: What is wrong with teaching about diversity and anti-racism? What purpose is served in preventing people from learning about the unique experiences of “other” people who do not like, talk, and act like them? What are the merits and demerits of teaching and encouraging inclusion in the workplace in particular and American society in general?
In the meantime, you should begin to develop your response while waiting for announcement of due date. Your response should be structured or organized in sections or subheadings or bullet points , and not exceed 4 pages.“
