Write an essay (or produce a video 14 minutes or longer) based on the arguments made in the book What Caused the Pueblo Revolt of 1680? and other arguments about the revolt. Be sure to include your opinions, not just a recitation of facts. Feel free to discuss many theories and argue why they are wrong or inadequate.
You may work in groups and you may consult with a librarian on how to find sources. You are not required cite sources as I understand that ideas you express may not be your own, however sources are a plus especially if you go beyond the assigned course materials as it shows that you have done additional work. If you copy language verbatim, however, you must use quotation marks and cite a source.
You may submit a 14-18 minute video instead of writing a paper. You may collaborate with others to produce a video which will be the same length regardless of the number of members of the group if you work in a group. The video can be “unlisted” on YouTube in which case it is not visible in their index, however if you make your video publicly available I will give you extra points added to your grade for doing so. Submit only the clickable link for the video (check it from a blind browser window where you are not logged in to Google), do not try to upload the actual video.
Please use 12 point font or larger, New Times Roman, double spaced. Headings and subheadings are encouraged. All written work should be 3-4 pages.
Even though it says not included in final grade calculation, this does count toward your final grade. See the syllabus.
I realize that it may be hard to get a copy of the Weber book What Caused the Pubelo Revolt of 1680 given that most of you would rather get the assignment behind you than take an extension, I would like to suggest these resources instead:

They are not as varied and as sophisticated, but they will do the job. They lack comparison of several perspectives that the book has. I would compare economic, social, cultural and religious motivations and describe the likelihood of each one you find feasible.
If you cut and paste text, then quote, do not paraphrase with cut and paste as it tends to not work well and may cause plagiarism allegations. Proper paraphrasing is best done by reading text on one side of your screen and writing on the other one. If you need help ask a librarian. All papers must be submitted on D2L in the Dropbox under Assignments and will be screened by Turnitin. No paper copies will be accepted.
