Develop a key principle (guideline) for promoting health based upon a biblical concept and developmental research. The principle must be designed for one of the following developmental periods: early childhood, childhood, adolescence, or adulthood. To create your principle, first identify a specific Bible passage and give a brief summary. Next, identify developmental research that can be connected to the passage and give a brief explanation of the research. The developmental research can come from the Polan text or another scholarly source. Finally, provide a brief statement of application on how the passage and research can specifically be used in promoting health and wellness. Include the following sections:
Principle: State the principle first. In general, principles are prescriptive statements that indicate a suggestion or recommendation. Also, principles are typically generalizations that could be applied in multiple ways. For example, “Parents should be sensitive to the developmental needs of their children.” This statement is general enough to be applied in a variety of ways.
Bible Passage: Identify the specific passage to connect to the principle. Give a brief explanation of the passage’s meaning. Any external sources used in the explanation should be properly cited.
Developmental Research: Give a brief description of the developmental research used as support for the principle. Use proper citation.
Application: Set forth a possible way that the principle could be practiced. The application statement must be concrete and specific as though one is actually observing it happening and describing what is being observed. It must be detailed enough so that a parent or practitioner would know what to do to put the principle into practice. Also, the application must be sensitive to the developmental differences of the selected age group.
