WEEK 5 CRIMINOLOGICAL THEORY PAPER OUTLINE

Your outline should be 1-2 pages in length and should describe in short sentences the flow of your paper. It should list the steps in order of how you are going to present your paper. You should have 3-5 general headings with 2-3 sub-headings under each general heading. See Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL) for tips on preparing an effective outline.
You should have the following sections:
Introduction
A clear “purpose statement”
Introductory sentence that explicitly explains what the paper is about – the main points of analysis.
A quick overview of the points of analysis
Analysis (Body)
Criminological Theories
Identify the names of the two theories you will discuss
Identify the three components from each theory you will discuss
Crime Trend
Identify the specific crimes or crimes you will be using
Identify the two crime trends you will address
Alternative/Merged Theory
Provide the name of your new theory
Identify at least three components of your new theory
Identify the specific crime you will be analyzing with your new theory
Conclusion
At least one or two concise sentences of the analysis
Identify the two things you have learned from your alternative/merged theory
Provide one reason why multiple theories to explain trends in crime may be helpful, and one reason it may not be helpful
Punctuation and Grammar
All the words spelled correctly
Proper grammar used
Follows APA Guidelines
