For this assignment, please read all of Chapter 1 from Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt. Then, you will be writing a short essay (1 1/2 to 2 or 3 pages) following this format:
1. Summarize the chapter in your own words. When you don’t use your OWN words, be sure to put quotations around the words, phrases, etc that you pull from the chapter and cite the quote correctly. Also, be thorough in this part. I’m not just looking for one paragraph but rather a detailed account of what the chapter is about. Pretend like you are introducing the chapter to someone who has never read it.
2. Link some of the key ideas from the chapter to what you have read so far in the class from the Leon-Guerrero book. Include clear citations of terms, concepts or phrases from the textbook in this section. You must include at least 3-4 concepts from the textbook and link these to Chapter 1 in Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt. This can be its own section or you can include concepts from the text throughout your chapter summary from point 1. Please BOLD OR UNDERLINE the concepts from Leon-Guerrero that you use so I can CLEARLY see them.
3. Apply the reading and extend it to your own life. Have you experienced or seen any of the issues discussed in the book in your own communities or in the media?
