Project #1: Annotated Bibliography –In this first major project of the course, students will be asked to provide a reasonable representation of the scholarship on and published attitude toward a given topic or concern of their choosing. More specifically, students will be asked to summarize texts that represent the range/spectrum of views toward this chosen topic—and then organize them as annotations. Choose at least ten sources. At least seven of these sources should be scholarly sources.

For each of the ten sources, you will need to begin with a citation, either in MLA or APA format, depending upon your discipline. The citation will then follow with three paragraphs. We will learn more about crafting these paragraphs, but essentially the paragraphs are as follows: 1) A summary of the source 2) The ethos or qualifications of the author, plus the ways in which the source would be useful for different discourse communities 3)The last paragraph is about your own personal research and the way this source will be helpful to your research. You could also explain that this isn’t a source that will ultimately be helpful because of reasoning you explain in this last paragraph.

At the top of the document, after your MLA heading (for APA you will include a cover page), list your research question or “working” tentative thesis statement.
