To provide you with additional information and guidance towards your final project, I searched for profiles of countries that cover the social and business norms and interactions from the cultural lens. During the remaining weeks, I’ll post video links that describe what it is like to do business in specific countries. This week, I chose Brazil.
To compete in South America’s largest market, BRAZIL, you need proper training; failure to prepare can lead to damaged relationships and lost business. This video examines the business culture in Brazil using case studies and role-plays. It highlights how the people are outgoing and physical and how they celebrate—rather than litigate—gender differences. It shows how in Brazil’s professional culture, a more casual attitude dictates much of what does—and doesn’t—get done. The video demonstrates how to accomplish business objectives in this culture, and how to persuade and motivate, whether in the boardroom or on the assembly line.
When you watch the video, I invite you to:
1. Be mindful of the dynamics of interaction between people in the respective country (this is part of your learning for this course).
2. Take notes of the different topics discussed so you can use them when you work on your project (where they are relevant of course).

This program features a global team in action. It uses case studies and role-plays, showing a problem-plagued meeting between five managers from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and South America, and highlights powerful techniques for working effectively with other cultures. The program teaches how to foster effective leadership, overcome differences, and benefit from cultural diversity.
