Galton and Nietzche

The authors view species, both human and animal, as evolving and progressing over time. Human beings have transformed from the conventional type to a new strain that is a natural selection process. This means that the traditional human being is different from the modern strain. They view progress occurring in the human and animal species as a viable occurrence in the social setting that helps to acquire new and advanced species with accelerated potential. The recognition of the power of natural nobility enables individuals to understand species progression.

The two texts agree that species evolve to develop to generate powerful components. They view humans as beings capable of obtaining greater milestones as they progress. Individuals are gifted with natural and high qualities that advanced their social setting (Galton 1). Their characteristics are a product of the natural selection process that allows them to transform accordingly. Human beings have also created something beyond themselves (Nietzsche 1). This means that humankind can engage in a wide range of activities and processes since, as they progress, they acquire essential skills and knowledge that enable them to change the world positively. For instance, developing new and advanced species translates to improved capabilities to engage creative and critical thinking skills. Thus, they are better positioned to make the world a better place. Also, they view growth as a crucial factor in causing fragility and unhappiness. Overbred animals have limited stamina (Galton 2). They are less likely to generate potential characteristics. Also, these transformations lead to poverty, pollution, and self-complacency (Nietzsche 2). They do not necessarily lead to happiness because humans and animal suffer nature’s wrath due to conditions such as pollution and poverty. Thus, progression generates weaker species. However, the two disagree on the outcomes associated with human growth and advancement.

The authors disagree on the existence of older species. One supports the relevance of these species while the other supports their extinction. “I love the great despisers because they are the great adorers” (Nietzsche 4). The statement shows that older species play a vital role in the social setting. Their contribution cannot be underestimated with the perception that they have ceased to exist. They are a representation of the path that both the animal and human species have undertaken over time. “There comes a time when man will no longer give birth to a star” (Nietzsche 6). Each species is different from the other and plays a vital role in perpetuating the human race. Older races pave the way for new and advanced species. The presence of two species generates brutality since one must yield while the other dies out due to the struggle for space (Galton 4). Newcomers intermarry with the residents leading to descendants of a mixed marriage. Overall, the two disagree about the presence of older species in the social setting.

Overall, the two texts argue that humans and animal species continue to evolve and the process is inevitable. This transformation helps create new and advanced species capable of surviving in the harsh environmental setting. Undoubtedly, the mutation process is crucial since the ecosystem itself undergoes various changes. Even as many people develop keen attention on the over-population state attributed to species progression, there is a dire need to consider the existing places on earth that are void and capable of receiving these populations. The world should depict readiness to receive ‘natural gifts.’
