Write a research paper on any topic that brings art and science into dialogue.

Most of the material we are looking at in class comes from the 18th and 19th centuries, and you are encouraged to pick a topic that builds on an issue or object discussed in class. However, you are also welcome to choose a topic from before or after that time period. We are focusing on Euro-Western material in the class, and although I am open to students working on non-Western topics. The essay should have a well-developed and clear argument or central question. The essay should have an introduction and conclusion, bibliography, proper footnotes (see guide below), and an appendix of images. Your essay should be well written, without typos or grammatical errors.o Your essay should be roughly 8 pages, double spaced in 12 pt times new roman font, not including footnotes, bibliography, or images.
Visual Analysis: You should provide a complete formal description of the object on which you are focusing in the body of your essay. Pay attention to aesthetic features such as line, color, form, and iconography, but also consider the object’s empirical or objective features. The short paper on a scientific object should prepare you to move between the languages of art and science. Try to orient your formal description around your argument.
The body of your essay should present research that supports your argument or builds to an answer to your central question.
